Despite the fact that the Sunday roast is inspired by church going, I have always enjoyed this staple British dish. Maybe it was because it does, in a way, make me think of my own family Sunday lunches. It feels homey, and is a good slab of meat dish to help with my carnivorous diet.

It’s also sometimes I only think of in summer – and the Latchmere is great for that with it’s little outside garden at the back. It’s your typical neighbourhood pub. This means that the food is indeed reflective to some extent to my family lunches: it’s decent grub but not extraordinary. The meat didn’t taste of much, god bless there was plenty of horseradish sauce to spread around.
It did come with the most massive Yorkshire pudding (which was, however, a little bit dry), and the peas that it came with were well cooked so that they didn’t become too mushy and kept that semi-crunchy texture. Might come here for a drink and some grub, but not a place I wouldn’t ever think to bring to impress.
