Somewhere in a deep dark corner of my blog, there must have been a promise made for me to constantly bemoan the general shittiness of restaurants and cafes in the Wharf (yes, I know, it’s not that bad – but it does serve as a great theme). Taylor St Baristas definitely stands above the crowd (which shouldn’t be hard when the crowd consists of Costa and Starbucks).

The somewhat techno music inside Taylor St Baristas transported me to Berghain in Berlin (which I think is somewhat of a compliment). There isn’t a lot of space inside, but most people seem to be getting coffee to go and it wasn’t difficult to find a seat.
They have lamingtons! If you liked coconut and chocolate mixed up with a bit of sponge cake consistency, this is the treat for you. It works rather well with tea or coffee too.
On to the tea – it was the usual deal you seem to get around most places in London, barely any flavour or resemblance to anything but hot water. The Chai latte, however, was rather nice, I found that it wasn’t overly sweet nor too spicy. Then again, not sure if it’s exactly how it should be and this Guardian article on chai latte is quite interesting.
